Antonio Rudiger’s transfer to Real Madrid has been verbally agreed, and only the contract needs to be signed before the move is completed. All details such as the agent’s commission, salary and length of the contract have been discussed and finalised.

The German centre-back will be signing a four-year deal with the new La Liga champions. He will be moving as a free agent upon the expiry of his contract with Chelsea. No announcement will be made until the end of the season out of respect for the Premier League club.

The Chelsea board offered Rudiger several offers to extend his contract, but he refused all their advances. The player wanted a better financial offer from the club due to his importance to the team, but did not receive it in time.

The UK government then placed sanctions on Chelsea owing to Roman Abramovich’s ownership of the club. This prevented them from carrying out any new negotiations with Antonio Rudiger for the renewal of his contract.

And now, he has decided to move on from Stamford Bridge and take up a new challenge with Los Blancos. Carlo Ancelotti was very important in convincing the 29-year-old to make the switch. The Italian has now secured his first signing of the summer, and will be confident of assembling a squad capable of realistically challenging for the Champions League next season.
