Brentford have reached an agreement with Club Brugge to sign Antonio Nusa in a deal worth €30 million. The player will be staying in Belgium until the end of the season and will join the Bees in the summer once he has gained more experience.
The Norwegian was on the radar of several Premier League clubs including Chelsea and Newcastle United, but most prominently, Spurs. However, Ange Postecoglou’s side signed Timo Werner from RB Leipzig and now seem unlikely to go for another attacker.
Antonio Nusa to sign for Brentford in June 2024
The 18-year-old is gaining traction for his ability to take on defenders for his current club. He has scored four goals and assisted three in 28 appearances, suggesting that he is slowly adding an end product to his game as well.
The Bees are bracing for the departure of Ivan Toney, with the striker now available to play professionally after serving a lengthy ban. And in their search for a versatile forward, they have found a young gem in Antonio Nusa. But, he is prioritising game time which might push the date of joining back to the summer.
They missed out on a number of such attackers such as Nicolas Gonzalez of Fiorentina, Brennan Johnson, Mykhaylo Mudryk and Johan Bakayoko. But now, they have finally struck a deal with a potential solution to their attack.
It’ll be interesting to see how he fares in the Premier League once he makes the move. Moreover, with Arthur Vermeeren joining Atletico Madrid in the winter, it seems unlikely that Brugge will let Nusa go before the summer.
