Antoine Griezmann is expected to stay at Atletico Madrid, with the Rojiblancos and Barcelona expected to reach an agreement soon.
Previously, there was a €40 million buy clause inserted into his loan deal if he played a certain number of minutes. This is the main reason why he only came on from the 60th minute in La Liga during the initial few games. Now, with the two clubs close to agreeing a permanent deal, he is being given starts in games.
Antoine Griezmann to soon become permanent Atletico Madrid player once again
The Frenchman has been quite impactful from the bench in several games. But, sorting out his situation will allow him to concentrate solely on football. He only wanted to stay with Atletico, and will get his wish very soon.
Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have settled on a €20 million fee, including €2 million in add-ons. So, there will be no waiting till the opening of the transfer window or till June, when his loan spell expires. The Blaugrana signed him for around €120 million, and will suffer a massive loss on the forward with the move never really working out.
Griezmann has scored three goals across all competitions, having made 10 appearances this season. Atletico Madrid are in a difficult position themselves, and will need to step up their game in order to achieve a respectable finish by their standards.
