Antoine Griezmann has been silent since his presentation as a Barcelona player a season and a half ago. However, people have been harsh critics of the French forward ever since he signed for Barcelona.
The 29-year-old sat down with Jorge Valdano and spoke in-depth about a lot of issues circulating the player himself. The main reason why he agreed to talk is that “it is time to put things in their place because I have been putting up with things and comments for a long time and I said that enough is enough,” according to Griezmann himself.
When asked about the main reason why his time at Barcelona has been so harshly criticised, Griezmann pointed out that he had only been at Barcelona for a year and a half. During that time, he has been under three different coaches and has played in three very different systems.
He asked for more time to adapt, and is set on remaining at Barcelona despite media speculations that he will be moved on in January, or in 2021.
“With a little help from everyone, including journalists, if they don’t give me a lot of stick, that will help me. Let me be a bit calm, I know I have confidence and I will enjoy it again ”
“I have to respond and show that I have a place in this club ”.
Griezmann also cleared the air regarding the controversial statements made by his uncle and former advisor, Eric Olhats:
“Since the day I got married, I have no relationship with Eric Olhats. He was invited to my wedding and at the table of honor, he did not come, I am very pissed off and I have no relationship with him. He thinks of me like anyone, but he can do a lot of damage and hurt in a locker room, but Leo knows that I have great respect for him, I learn from him. And my uncle doesn’t know what football is about, a journalist comes to you and tries to get a phrase from him to create controversy ”.
