Erik Ten Hag and Manchester United are keen to keep hold of Anthony Martial for the coming season. The player spent the latter half of the 21/22 campaign on loan with Sevilla. Being a straight loan, he has returned to Old Trafford upon the expiry of the deal.
United are in need of a striker, and in the eyes of Ten Hag, Martial could fill that role. With rumours of Cristiano Ronaldo willing to leave the club, the club has a plan B that they can turn to in the Frenchman.
Anthony Martial to stay at Manchester United for 22/23
Atletico Madrid are the most recent club to be linked with Ronaldo. However, their president, Enrique Cerezo, has put all speculation to bed, saying: “This question is very easy. We have sensational players and a fantastic coach. We have everything, what more could you ask for?” As a result, there are seemingly no clubs willing to sign the Portugal captain this summer.
Anthony Martial has had a rather inconsistent spell with the Red Devils, since joining them from Monaco. But under Erik Ten Hag, things could change for him if he is given an important role.
And with Ronaldo, he would be the second striker option available at the club for the coming season. Several clubs are keen to take him on loan, but he is expected to stay put in the squad for 22/23.
