East Bengal have reached an agreement with Gokulam Kerala to appoint Anthony Andrews as the new head coach of their IWL team. According to Khel Now, the Red and Golds will pay a record transfer fee to bring Andrews over.
The deal allegedly took three months to conclude, since East Bengal were hopeful of a mutual termination which would allow them to complete the transfer without a fee. However, Gokulam were difficult to negotiate with and were unwilling to entertain this request.

The EB women’s team debuted in the IWL last season and only earned four points from 12 games. On the other hand, Andrews’ Gokulam side missed out on a third straight league title to the ambitious Odisha FC.
Shrachi Group’s takeover of East Bengal’s women’s team ahead of the new season has allowed them to make major investments. And the deal for Anthony Andrews is perhaps the biggest of the lot.
Gokulam are now reportedly looking at one of their ex-coaches to take charge of the team for the coming season. And it now remains to be seen who it turns out to be.
