The 16-year-old has broken into the Barcelona first team XI and has done wonders in the Blaugrana colours.

Ansu Fati made his Barcelona debut at just 16 years and 298 days against Real Betis. He scored his first Barcelona goal against Osasuna to become the youngest Barcelona goal scorer in LaLiga.

On Saturday, Fati made his first start for Barcelona against Valencia. It took him just 7 minutes to get his name on the scoresheet. He also provided an assist to Frenkie De Jong to score Barcelona’s second goal.

Ansu Fati, aged 16 years and 318 days, became the youngest player to score as a starter in LaLiga history, and the youngest player to both score and assist in a LaLiga game in the 21st century.

Barcelona head coach Ernesto Valverde believes Ansu Fati has something special. According to ESPN, Valverde said: “There’s going to be a lot of hype with Ansu — a lot. What we have to do is try and keep it down. Our job is to protect the player. But there’s no denying Ansu is a player who has something special. He seems much more mature than his age. We saw things [against Valencia] that we see in training.
It’s not easy to be a Barcelona player, especially for a player as young as Ansu. It’s not normal to score with your first touch and to assist with your second. This performance was a bit exaggerated in that sense. Things will even themselves out. We want him to get to know the league and to see how complicated it is [playing for Barcelona]. The kid is still developing.”

Ansu Fati to play for Spain in the U17 World Cup in October

Ansu Fati was born in Guinea-Bissau but has spent most of his life living in Spain. He first lived in Seville and since 2012 he has lived in Barcelona when he joined the famous La Masia academy of Barcelona.

According to Catalan daily Sport, Fati has declared his intention to play for his adopted country and national team head coach Robert Moreno said efforts from the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) to bring him into La Roja’s fold are well underway.

Roberto Moreno told Movistar: “The people of the federation are working on it in order to bring Ansu Fati in, and then there will be the decision of the player. The federation works to have the best players.
It’s a joy for Barca – a player who has come out of La Masia. You have to be calm and I hope he is.”
