Atletico Madrid are open to selling Angel Correa in January, with a move to Saudi Arabia rumoured for the Argentine. In the summer, an unnamed club offered £35 million to sign him, but Atletico refused since they wanted him to stay. But after getting frustrated over the lack of playing time, the 28-year-old is eager to try a new experience, especially considering the massive salary rise according to the Daily Mail.
Correa could earn as much as £52 million should he make the move to the Middle East. And to make things easier, Atletico Madrid are now open to a move since his deal runs out in June 2026. Al Ittihad is the club most likely to receive the player, as all Saudi signings are made by the PIF.
Angel Correa linked with Saudi Arabia transfer from Atletico Madrid
The forward has only made three starts in LaLiga, alongside two in the Champions League. However, he has scored five times in spite of falling out of favour with Diego Simeone, with most of his appearances made from the bench.
The winger made the move to the Rojiblancos in 2015, and has since scored 73 goals in 392 appearances, helping them win the LaLiga title, Europa League and UEFA Super Cup.
If Angel Correa does indeed leave for Saudi Arabia within the month, Atletico Madrid are set to make new signings to replace him. Diego Simeone has long wanted a defensive minded central midfielder, and that reinforcement could arrive soon if the Argentine leaves.
Moreover, Atlanta United’s Thiago Almada could also be signed to replace his fellow Argentine, if they can agree a deal with the MLS club. The youngster has been improving on his game over the last few years, and could finally be set to make the move to Europe.
