Chelsea’s new wonderkid, Andrey Santos, has been in inspired form for Brazil in the U-20 South American Championships. The youngster captains his national youth team, and has been leading from the front, scoring five goals in six games at the tournament.
The plan for the Blues has never been to loan him out, as he has been signed for the first team. The 18-year-old has been very impressive, but there is one obstacle that has blocked his move to London to join the team right now.
Andrey Santos work permit in advanced stages
The midfielder has not yet received a work permit to begin training in England. As a result, he has been unable to make the move even though he has signed for Chelsea.
Given the time that it was taking for the player to receive his work permit, there were rumours that he could be loaned back to a Brazilian club. But, there are no such plans for the former Vasco da Gama midfielder to move anywhere.
The work permit is in the advanced stages and should be ready very soon. Once the formalities have been completed, we will be able to see Andrey Santos training with the squad and making his debut soon with the club.
The Brazilian’s arrival was mostly under the radar due to the hype over Enzo Fernandez, Mykhaylo Mudryk and Joao Felix. However, Santos could prove to be an incredible acquisition for the club down the line if he can improve on the qualities he has already shown.
