Chelsea will be sending Andrey Santos on loan to Brazil, after the Premier League did not allow him a work permit. The midfielder was signed by the West London club as part of their January transfer window splurge.
The midfielder has been very highly rated by the higher ups at the club, and even though he has been presented by them, he will not be able to play. Palmeiras are close to finalising a loan transfer for the Brazilian, and the transfer will be completed in the coming week.
Andrey Santos to sign for Palmeiras on loan
The teenager was extremely impressive during the Sudamericano Sub20, and lifted the trophy with Brazil as their captain. He was also named the player of the tournament, scoring six goals during the tournament and also in the finals against Uruguay.
Chelsea are convinced that they have signed a gem, and consider him an important part of their future project. But they will have to wait till Andrey Santos receives a work permit for him to make his first team debut.
They will have a clause to recall him during the summer transfer window if they can get it processed by then. The option will be worth €1.5 million, and the loan deal will run until December 2023.
Santos joins youngsters like Cesare Casadei, Carney Chukwuemeka, Gabriel Slolina and Omari Hutchinson to have joined the SW6 outfit recently as part of their future project.
