Andreas Christensen is reportedly in advanced talks to join Barcelona. The Spanish giants have offered the defender a better contract than their previous offer, and it is likely that he will accept their bid to join as a free agent.

The Chelsea academy graduate’s contract runs out in June 2022, and he is free to join any club that he can reach an agreement with. However, he has said that he won’t be joining any other Premier League clubs out of respect for Chelsea.

Andreas Christensen close to joining Barcelona in the summer

Bayern Munich are also in talks to sign Andreas Christensen in the summer. The Bavarians will be needing a replacement centre-back since Niklas Sule will join Dortmund in the summer as a free agent.

Barcelona are also in talks with Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta, whose deal runs out in the summer as well. The Spaniard is yet to announce his final decision as to whether he will renew with Chelsea or go back home, but the deal with Christensen seems much more advanced as things stand right now.

The Denmark international has been in direct contact with Barcelona and Bayern Munich since January. Since he has turned down Chelsea’s advances of extending his contract, it seems likely that the player will be joining a new club in a few months.

As his replacement, the Blues are targeting Sevilla’s Joules Kounde most prominently amongst other talented defenders.
