Andre Gomes has returned to Lille, signing a two-year contract with the French side till 2026. The midfielder left Everton at the end of the 23-24 season after his contract expired, with the club opting against a renewal.

The 31-year-old spent the 22-23 season on loan with Rennes before returning to Everton. He made 27 appearances for Les Dogues while on loan two years ago. And it will be interesting to see if he gets played regularly now that he is back.

Andre Gomes returns to Lille after leaving Everton

This last season, The Portuguese only made 12 appearances for Everton after returning from an injury that kept him out during the start of the season. The 31-year-old previously featured for Barcelona as well, and won the 2017-18 league title with them.

After five years on Everton’s books, it remains to be seen whether the return to France bodes well for the midfielder. Everton, on the other hand, look set for another relegation battle after letting go of both Gomes and Amadou Onana in midfield.
