There is a poignant scene where she experiences her first kiss with him. It’s disturbing at one level, but one can imagine that a girl who wasn’t able to feel anything is experiencing love for the first time. Like everywhere else in the film, Bachchan lent gravitas to the whole thing and made indisputable you got the pathos of it.
