Recently a mysterious AMD Radeon RX 6000 series graphics card is spotted within the UserBenchmark database. The interesting thing is that it features the Navi 21 GPU but only houses 8 GB of memory. The variant was reported to be tested on a desktop platform.

The thing to focus on here is that AMD has three Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards based on the Navi 21 GPU SKU, and they all feature 16 GB GDDR6 memory. And the sudden appearance of this new variant with 8Gigs of memory puts many speculations on the table.

According to sources, the latest Navi 21 GPU-based Radeon RX 6000 SKU was tested on a desktop setup comprising a Ryzen 7 2700X CPU and MSI X470 Gaming Plus motherboard. The testing platform confirms that the Navi 21 GPU is a discrete graphics card rather than an embedded GPU. However, there is still a possibility of there existing a mobility variant.

From what we have seen so far in the benchmark tests, it’s safe to say that this specific Radeon RX 6000 variant seems to be a little bit slower than the Radeon RX 6800 (Non-XT). This means that this variant is either a cut-down configuration or is running at lower clocks.

However, if this turns out to be a desktop discrete graphics card, this might appear to be a further cut-down configuration for either the OEM segment or a DIY product that lies between the RX 6700 XT and RX 6800.

Whatever the case might be, this new graphics card still brings hope to the fact that AMD might be planning to bring out a Navi 21 GU Radeon RX 6000 mobile graphics card for OEMs.
