AMD’s upcoming Radeon RX 6700 XT, built using the Navi 22 GPU, has appeared with its performance benchmarks. Various gaming results and the Vulkan and OpenCL capabilities of the card are on full display. The card offers great 1440p performance and is expected to take down both the RTX 3060 Ti and the RTX 3070.

Official reports from AMD indicate that the Radeon RX 6700 XT offers better performance than the RTX 3070 at 1440p in several AAA titles. But, when we see the benchmark results published by Harukaze, which is based on several titles like the Doom Eternal and Shadow of The Tomb Raider, we found that AMD’s upcoming card is quite powerful.

According to reports, the Radeon RX 6700 XT offers up to 5% better GPU performance in Doom Eternal than the RTX 3060 Ti and 3% higher FPS in Shadow of The Tomb Raider. If the results are anything to go by, then the Radeon RX 6700 XT is up to 8% faster than the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti and 1% faster than the GeForce RTX 3070.

Coming to the Vulkan and OpenCL, it is reported that the AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT scores 55278 points in the Vulkan benchmark & 102831 points within the OpenCL benchmark in Geekbench 5. When compared to NVIDIA’s GPU, the Radeon RX 6700 XT is slower than the RTX 2080 SUPER in OpenCL and also slower than even the Radeon RX 5700 XT in the OpenCL benchmark.

But the results are quite strange, considering that AMD’s RX 6000 series graphics cards are its next-gen GPUs, so they have worse performance than their Vega, and Navi-based predecessors in both benchmarks are certainly quite strange.

The poor performance on the OpenCL and Vulcan might be the result of the new RDNA 2 graphics architecture. As both the GPU performance benchmark tools require some time to get set with the RDNA 2 architecture, and also that the AMD’s platform is relatively new that would make the numbers appear strange.

Coming to the specifications, the AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT is built on the company’s Navi 22 XT GPU that features 40 compute units which equal to 2560 stream processors. The clock speeds of the GPU are reported to be at 2321 MHz base, 2424 MHz Game, and 2581 MHz boost.

The chip also features 40 Ray accelerators for raytracing capabilities on the RDNA 2 based GPUs. It will be powered by an 8+6 pin connector configuration. The card’s TDP is rated at 230W which is close to the GeForce RTX 3070.

The card will also feature 12 GB GDDR6 memory with a 192-bit bus interface. It is reported to have up to 16 Gbps dies which would net a total bandwidth of 384 GB/s for the cards. The fully Gen 4.0 compliant card comes with three DisplayPort 1.4 and a single HDMI 2.1 port.
