AMD’s Navi 3X GPUs Emerge with ‘Cuarzo’ Codename: What we know

There are indications that AMD is gearing up for the release of new products based on its Radeon RX 7000 “RDNA 3” GPUs, specifically within the Navi 3X lineup. This speculation arises from a shipping manifesto featuring several products codenamed “Cuarzo.”

AMD appears to be transitioning from fish-based codenames to those inspired by crystalline rocks, according to information revealed by the well-known hardware leaker Harukaze5179. The shipping manifesto, reportedly obtained from AMD’s Canadian headquarters, unveils the use of a new codename, “Cuarzo,” for the existing Navi 3X GPUs. These SKUs were allegedly shipped to the company’s laboratories worldwide.

The naming convention adopted by AMD introduces the term “Cuarzo,” a Spanish word that translates to “Quartz” in English. This nomenclature is further categorized into three groups: Cuarzo Rojo (Red Quartz), Cuarzo Verde (Green Quartz), and Cuarzo Azul (Blue Quartz). The reason behind AMD’s choice of these names remains unclear, but it adds a unique touch to the product line. This departure from whimsical fish-themed names, such as “Pink Sardine” or “Hotpink Bonefish,” aligns with AMD’s historical practices.

It’s essential to note that the SKUs mentioned in the shipping label do not provide concrete evidence of a new release in development. However, speculation from sources like Videocardz suggests that AMD might be considering integrating the Navi 32 GPU package into mobile variants. This assumption is based on references to “board D716” and “XEM” variants in the shipping label. While this is currently a rumor lacking substantial evidence through leaks, it could potentially address the significant gap between the Navi 33 and Navi 31 mobile SKUs.

As AMD continues to innovate in the GPU space, enthusiasts and tech communities eagerly await further developments and official announcements regarding the potential introduction of the Cuarzo series within the Navi 3X GPU lineup.
