Following an analysis of AMD software modifications, a well-known Twitter leaker (@KOMACHI ENSAKA) revealed in a tweet yesterday that AMD is developing a new model for their RX 6000 series. According to this source, another Navi 24-based desktop graphics card will be released this year, making it the third in the series.
Following the release of the AMD RX 6500XT and RX 6400 graphics cards, this new graphics card will be released. Readers may recall that the AMD RX 6400 was quietly released to OEMs in January of this year and that it is also set to be launched in the DIY market.
The translated tweet reads,
THE 6400 IS NO LONGER EXCLUSIVELY FOR OEMS, SO WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY PREPARING THE 6300 AS A NEW OEM EXCLUSIVE?
The tweet is about a listing of three AMD models — 6500XT, 6400, and 6300, which the latter is mentioned as “New!” by their source.
The new Radeon RX 6300 graphics card will be supported by AMD’s GPU Performance API, version 3.10
Because AMD has yet to formally announce the new SKU, it is assumed that the undisclosed card is currently in production. Another notable fact is that the RX 6300 model is the only one mentioned in the developer changelog for the API, with no mention of any other models in the range, such as the Radeon RX 6300M, which is now in use for laptops.
If AMD releases the Radeon RX 6300 this year, it will be one of the RDNA2 family’s lower-performing graphics cards. The memory amount is expected to be around 2GB, based on the memory allocation found in the RX 6300M for laptops.
Because AMD has not officially confirmed this model, the media can assume that the business may also reduce the Stream Processor capabilities, causing the GPU to run slower than expected. If this is the case, customers may want to consider CPUs with built-in graphics or perhaps an APU to replace the unknown graphics card.
