As direct competition to NVIDIA’s Image Scaling, AMD is reportedly working on a new upscaling technique as per Videocardz. As we know Nvidia is working hard to steal the spotlight away from AMD’s FSR, the company looks to work on a new implementation of FSR.
However this time, this technique will work in almost all games, as in it will work with those games that have full-screen mode. So, this should not be an issue as most games come with full-screen mode.
As Videocardz points out on basis of their source, the new RSR will work with the existing FSR 1.0 algorithm and Radeon drivers. So much like NVIDIA’s image scaling this RSR will work with existing Radeon drivers and so will not require any integration with game developers.
You won’t have to wait long as the AMD Radeon Super Resolution is scheduled to be launching in January 2022. It will be supported by both RDNA1 and RDNA2 based GPUs and as of now there is no other info about performance or how it works, we shall expect more details at CES 2022.
