A recently leaked fresh benchmark of the upcoming AMD Ryzen “Strix Point” APU which will come with 12 Zen 5 cores, seems to have performed closely to that of the 7700X. The identification of this benchmark as an AMD Strix Point “Ryzen” APU is based on the reappearance of the same OPN IDs in similar leaks, but just different in a way or two. OPNs such as the 100-000000994-03_N were seen as early as later in 2023, the recent ones being the 100-000000994-14_N OPN and now the novel 100-000000994-38_Y.

More About AMD Strix Point ‘Ryzen’ APU

Although the previous records indicate that this OPN performance has been better, it is worth noting that this is a novel engineering sample. As for the specifications, the AMD Ryzen “Strix Point” APU is expected to have 12 cores based on the Zen 5 core architecture, 24 threads, 24 MB of L3 cache, 12 MB of L2 cache, and a base clock of 3.8 GHz. An RDNA 3+ iGPU with up to 16 compute units and LPDDR5X/DDR5 memory support, depending on the platform, is also expected.

AMD Ryzen “Strix Point” APU scored 270.92 points in the Blender multi-core test. It is worth the AMD Ryzen 7 7700X, which scored 269.02 points. Even though the Ryzen 7 7700X has more entries, which gives a more complete picture of the test, it is essential to emphasize that this is an 8-core chip based on the Zen 4-core architecture with an increased upper power limit.

Contrary to this, the Strix Point APUs are historically designed to run at lower TDP, expected to use the more advanced mobile platform at around 35-45 W. Up to nearly 1400 points, the Zen 5 core-equipped Strix Point “Ryzen” APU is 21% faster than the 8-core Ryzen 9 7940HS with 8 Zen 4 cores, which is a “notable on-field improvement” in this case.

The Strix Point APU achieves “good test results,” and considerable performance can furthermore be anticipated in term tests. The Ryzen “Strix Point” APUs will be officially detailed at Computex 2024 and come with a new naming structure that legends the “Ryzen AI” facet. Further details are expected to be disclosed soon.
