AMD Ryzen Z1 APUs have completely revolutionised the market, especially when it comes to improving the performance of mobile devices. New benchmarks demonstrate the incredible advancements in CPU efficiency made by the red team over time.

The AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme APU has 16 MB L3 cache, 8 MB L2 cache, and 8 Zen 4 cores with 16 threads. It has a TDP in the region of 15-28W, a base clock of 3.30 GHz, and a boost close to 5.1 GHz. The Radeon 780M iGPU, which has 12 RDNA 3 computing units and 768 cores operating at 2.7 GHz, is the featured GPU.

The capabilities of the processor were demonstrated in the recently introduced ROG Ally portable. Mochamad Farido Fanani, a Twitter user, has benchmarked the processor at Cinebench R23, and the results will undoubtedly surprise you.

The AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme outperforms the desktop i9-9900K and even outperforms the 65W (PL1) Core i5-11400 and Core i5-10400 CPUs.

The remarkable fact is that the Z1 Extreme only consumes 15W, whilst the i9-9900K can consume up to 95W. One might tell that the processor architecture has advanced since 2020 based on the significant change in power usage. Due to its Zen 4 core design and power optimisations tailored specifically for portable devices, which the firm discussed here, the AMD Ryzen Z1 APU is incredibly efficient.

The AMD Ryzen Z1 APU set the standard for the industry in terms of giving handheld consoles strong performance while using less electricity. Unfortunately, the processor hasn’t been used in any other handheld devices outside the ASUS ROG Ally, which is already having a number of overheating problems.
