AMD is taking the lead ahead of Intel’s upcoming Arrow Lake launch by announcing that its next-generation Ryzen 9000X3D processor will be released on November 7. The company also dropped a holiday promotion for the standard Ryzen 9000 series set to start on October 20 and ended up giving recommended customer pricing (RCP). The major chip prices for this promotion are the $50 discount on top-end Ryzen 9 9950X and a $30 reduction in price on Ryzen 9 9900X, Ryzen 7 9700X, and Ryzen 5 9600X. For the time being, they are currently the fastest gaming processors in existence with Ryzen 7000X3D.

The Upcoming AMD Ryzen 9000X3D Processor

For the moment it’s not clear whether Intel’s going to change that with its new chips unless Arrow Lake which is due this week has some surprises in store; for now, at least early word on benchmarks from reviewers like TechSpot suggests barely any gaming uplift versus a previous generation. AMD is set to build on that with its X3D chips, allowing it the dominant position in gaming.

Although we have no information on how many Ryzen 9000X3D models will be available or what they will cost, AMD announced its new “processor” in the singular. Sightings of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, which will likely supplant the current top gaming CPU at AMD, the leaked Ryzen 7800X3D suggest a possible release in store soon. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D has already appeared for sale at various retailers for approximately $500, indicating its upcoming launch, even if early listings can be misleading. Furthermore, the existing Ryzen 7 7800X3D is now out of stock at all US retailers, reinforcing the likelihood of the new model’s release.

Previously, AMD offered three X3D models in its last generation, along with two more expensive Ryzen 9 options featuring higher core counts. While it seems that the other two next-gen models won’t be included in the initial X3D launch, they could be announced soon.

The standard Ryzen 9000 series has experienced a lukewarm launch, primarily due to minimal generational improvements in gaming performance, often making the heavily discounted previous-generation Ryzen 7000 series a more attractive option. In response to Intel’s forthcoming Arrow Lake launch, AMD has lowered the recommended pricing for its flagship Ryzen 9 9950X by $50 and reduced the prices of the Ryzen 9 9900X, Ryzen 7 9700X, and Ryzen 5 9600X by $30.

However, AMD’s recommended pricing does not always reflect retail prices. For example, the Ryzen 9 9900X has been available at $439 for over a month, but AMD’s new RCP is $469, which is $30 higher than the street price. Meanwhile, the Ryzen 9 9950X and Ryzen 7 7700X are already being sold at adjusted lower prices, which may decrease further, or the market may have already responded with adjusted pricing on some of these models.
