Four AMD Ryzen 9000 “Granite Ridge” Desktop CPUs w/ Zen 5 Cores to Launch in July. The new information was posted by well-known Chiphell Forums user wjm47196 and refers to a launch timeline for AMD’s next-generation CPUs, which will arrive under the Zen 5 microarchitecture. Allegedly, these new CPUs will be able to bring noticeable performance improvements in multi-threading workloads thanks to the promises of increased IPC.

More About the AMD Ryzen 9000 Desktop CPUs

While the leaker is a bit vague in terms of this information, it’s clear that AMD Ryzen 9000 “Granite Ridge” CPUs will launch at four configuration tiers out of the gate: 16-core, 12-core, 8-core, and 6-core. If AMD sticks with its numbering scheme similar to the Ryzen 7000 parts we might see prospective SKUs like Ryzen 9 9950X, Ryzen 9 9900X, Ryzen 7 9700X, and Ryzen 5 9600X.

Whilst there are no signs of any significant core configuration, at least with Zen 5 AMD is said to continue adding more cores in upcoming generations of its chips, as per recent reporting. The AMD Ryzen 9000 “Granite Ridge” Desktop CPU family as well as the new AM5 platforms are going to be announced at Computex 2024, with an actual launch in July 2024. It also places AMD clearly ahead of Intel’s Arrow Lake, said to launch closer to late Q3 or early Q4 2024.

AMD promises to support the AM5 socket for Ryzen desktop CPUs Through 2025, and all of the major motherboard vendors have already announced BIOS updates for their AM5-based motherboards in order to accommodate upcoming CPUs. What’s more wrong is the IPC 10% rumor we heard about Zen 5 plus even larger gains in some specific workloads.

Since AMD has only recently begun working on Zen 5, there’s naturally not too much information to go on for it, but the prevailing idea right now is that it’s supposed to deliver improved performance and efficiency along with a re-pipelined front-end and wide issue capabilities in addition to some kind of integrated AI and machine learning enhancements. We’ll learn more during AMD’s keynote presentation in the near future, which should include specifics about the Ryzen AI 300 mobile APUs and fresh Strix creations.
