Based on the Zen 4 core architecture, both of these chips have 8 cores and 16 threads as well as 8 MB and 16 MB of L2 and L3 cache. They both have AMD’s Radeon 780M RDNA 3 iGPU, but the main distinction is that the 7940H has CPU Base, CPU Boost, and GPU Boost clock speeds of 4.0/5.2/2.80 GHz, while the 7840H has clock speeds of 3.8/5.1/2.70 GHz.

These AMD Ryzen 7040 Phoenix Mini PCs will have the option to support memory with capacities of up to 256 GB in DDR5-5600 and LPDDR5x-7500.

Additionally, it is claimed that the Ryzen 9 7940H surpasses the CBR23 (Cinebench R23) benchmark with scores of up to 16,000 points at 54 Watts and 18,000 points at 80 Watts. This performs nearly as well as the Dragon Range Ryzen 7 7745HX CPU, which has a significantly higher operating TDP.

The majority of designs will include dual HDMI 2.1 and USB4 ports in addition to a variety of other I/O ports like Ethernet LAN and additional USB ports. The starting price for AMD Ryzen 7040 Phoenix APU powered Mini PCs with the new 7040 Phoenix APUs is reportedly close to 3000 RMB, or roughly $500 US. Higher memory and storage configurations will cost more because this pricing is for the base variant.

Minisforum & GMKtech have so far confirmed that their brand-new Mini PCs will go on sale next month. Future versions will also include support for discrete GPUs like the most recent B550 Mini PC and have an external PSU.
