According to a MyDrivers rumor, AMD’s Radeon RX 7900 XTX & Radeon RX 7900 XT may only be offered at launch in reference models. While AMD will undoubtedly introduce the Radeon RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT GPU lines on December 13th, it is noted that the graphics cards will only be offered in reference variants. Gamers will have to wait a little longer to buy custom graphics cards using the new RDNA 3 chips.

Although AMD board partners PowerColor and ASUS have teased and unveiled their Radeon RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT custom designs, they haven’t yet made an official announcement. Early next month, when we anticipate the reviews for the cards to appear, is when we can probably expect a full reveal. After the reviews, there will be a launch on December 13th, which is said to solely contain reference variations. It is stated that the custom AIB cards will be on sale 1-2 weeks after the AIB variants, however, pre-orders will probably become available sooner so that customers can reserve their cards.

The AIB partner cards will be significantly more expensive than the reference variants. We are aware that the MSRP for the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX is $999 US whereas the MSRP for the Radeon RX 7900 XT is $899 US. If premium AIB models are going to cost an additional $100–200 US, that puts them in the same price range as the RTX 4080, which has an MSRP of $1199 US.

Given that the Radeon RX 7900 XTX is directly competing with the NVIDIA 4080 and that the Radeon RX 7900 XTX’s affordability is one of its most alluring qualities, the pricier versions could not stand a chance. However, the 4080 AIBs from NVIDIA cost more than USD 1300, and some even go above USD 1500. The claim also makes sense given AMD’s statement that partner cards will be available starting in the middle of December while reference cards will be available starting on December 13.
