AMD Radeon RX 7000 GPU series specs leaked online

The gaming GPU market is expected to explode next year. Not only are we expecting new products from AMD and NVIDIA, but we’re also expecting the first discrete graphics products from Intel’s Arc brand. Next year, we may even see new desktop GPUs based on PowerVR IP.

It’s possible that Intel or Innosilicon could stage a coup and completely disrupt the market, but both of those scenarios are based on wishful thinking. We believe that by this time next year, the majority of people will still be using GeForces and Radeons. As a result, the latest Greymon55 leak has piqued our interest.

Greymon55 is an anonymous Twitter user who is well-known for his correct GPU leaks. If you’re new to us, Greymon55 is an anonymous Twitter user who is well-known for his accurate GPU leaks. He admits that he doesn’t have much to say about Intel, but he’s been on top of AMD and NVIDIA news on several occasions. He’s referring to AMD’s next-generation Radeon chips by their codenames: Navi 31, Navi 32, and Navi 33 this time.

The Radeon Navi 30-series parts will be the next generation of Radeon hardware, employing the RDNA3 architecture this time. Apart from guarantees that RDNA3 is on the road, AMD has remained tight-lipped about it. According to previous speculations, AMD will use a multi-chip module design for the “Radeon RX 7000” family of GPUs, similar to what it has done with its Zen-based CPUs.

The latest release from Greymon55 is a mix of new information and guesswork from the leaker, as seen in the tweet above. If you’re a hardware nerd, you’ll probably be able to decode the tweet on your own, but just in case, we’ve broken it down for you. The numbers 31, 32, and 33 show the GPU we’re talking about, while “WGP” stands for “Work Group Processors,” the Navi architecture’s core building element.

According to multiple sources, the top-end Navi 30 part—which is Navi 31—has 15,360 shaders ALUs. If that’s the case, and Greymon55 is correct in estimating 60 WGPs, we can draw one of two conclusions: either 60 WGP is the figure for a single die in the multi-chip module, or RDNA 3 WGPs each have 256 shader processors (double that of the previous-generation parts).

Greymon55’s tweet also contains some new information about the memory capacity and clock rates of the upcoming cards. Greymon55 had previously predicted that the top-end Navi 31 card would have 32GB of GDDR6 memory on a 256-bit bus, but that prediction has now been revised to “only” 16GB of RAM. While this may seem excessive, keep in mind that we’re talking about a GPU that’s nearly three times as powerful as the Radeon RX 6900 XT, which also has 16GB of RAM.

In Greymon55’s universe, Navi 32 will have 12GB of memory on a 192-bit bus, and Navi 33 will have 8GB on a 128-bit bus. Those figures appear to be plausible to us, but several tweet answers appear to be sceptical. Previous leaks stated that the Navi 33 will perform similarly to the existing Navi 21, and it’s easy to see why people might be sceptical of that claim given that the Navi 33 has “only” 4,096 shader processors and a 128-bit memory bus.

Greymon55’s clock rate estimations are maybe the most startling piece of information in this data. A clock speed of 2.5 GHz for Navi 31 would put it 200-250 MHz faster than the Radeon RX 6900 XT, while Navi 32’s clock rate of upwards of 2.8 GHz would be the fastest shipping clock rate on a graphics processor… at least until Navi 33 and its rumoured nearly-3-GHz arrives. If these figures are correct, probably, the Radeon RX 7000 series will completely outperform the previous generation, as well as the competition.
