AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT performs extremely well in OpenCL benchmark score

The benchmark result for the upcoming AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT was posted by a Twitter user, APISAK, in the OpenCL database. The tested engineering sample managed to reach a maximum core frequency of 2.02 GHz during the benchmarking process. It also managed to get the OpenCL score of 169,779 points.

The results place the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT right behind the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 which managed a score of 177,724 points. And also the GeForce RTX 3090 which scored 202,869 points of the score in the benchmark. On the other hand, the AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT scored 151,332 points, while the AMD Radeon RX 6800 only managed 125,991 points.

But according to sources, the OpenCL benchmark reported only 40 compute units on the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT. Whereas according to AMD, the card should come with 80 compute units. So we can assume that the product is not the final version of the card and it will be much faster than the engineering models. The “Big Navi” GPU is expected to hit the market with a maximum GPU clock speed of 3 GHz.

Suppose all goes well than AMD will launch its Radeon RX 6900 XT on December 8 with a price tag of US$999. But according to reports the AIB’s will only start producing the custom models of Radeon RX 6900 XT only by the Q2 of 2021. So we have to wait till we get to see the official performance of the card. For now, we can only be satisfied with the benchmark results. But the results have increased the expectations of many and will surely not disappoint us with the final product.
