AMD Radeon PRO W7000 formally launched – All You Need to Know

After the leaks, finally, AMD announced the launch of their latest workstation graphics cards, the AMD Radeon PRO W7000 Series. The new graphics cards are built using the advanced AMD RDNA 3 architecture and include the AMD Radeon PRO W7900 and AMD Radeon PRO W7800 graphics cards.

These professional graphics cards are the most powerful AMD has ever built, boasting the world’s first chiplet design and support for DisplayPort 2.1, which provides a superior visual experience on next-generation displays.

The AMD Radeon PRO W7900 delivers up to 1.5 times faster geomean performance than the previous generation, while both graphics cards offer better performance-per-dollar compared to the competition for demanding professional and creative applications. These cards offer a range of new features, including the AMD RDNA 3 Architecture and Chiplet Design, which provide higher performance and greater efficiency than RDNA 2 architecture.

The new AMD RDNA 3 compute units are designed to share resources between rendering, AI, and raytracing to offer approximately 50% more raytracing performance per compute unit than the previous generation. The dedicated AI acceleration and second-generation raytracing technology deliver over 2 times more performance than the previous AMD RDNA 2 architecture, making these cards the ideal choice for demanding professional applications.

The AMD Radeon PRO W7000 Series graphics cards also include the AMD Radiance Display Engine with DisplayPort 2.1 support, which supports the highest resolutions and over 68 billion colors, offering support for higher refresh rate displays compared to AMD RDNA 2 architecture and competitive offerings. The display outputs support next-generation displays and multi-monitor configurations, creating an ultra-immersive visual environment.

AMD has worked closely with leading professional software application vendors to ensure that AMD Radeon PRO graphics cards are built for demanding 24/7 environments and tested to meet exceptional standards, delivering the ideal balance of performance and stability. The AMD Radeon PRO W7000 Series workstation graphics cards are expected to be available from leading etailers/retailers starting in Q2, 2023. The AMD Radeon PRO W7900 features a suggested retail price of $3,999 USD, while the AMD Radeon PRO W7800 features a suggested retail price of $2,499 USD. Product availability in OEM and SI systems is expected in the second half of 2023.

The AMD Radeon PRO W7000 Series workstation graphics cards will also be showcased at The NAB Show 2023 from April 16-19 in booth #N2158 (North Hall), Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada. The AMD Radeon PRO W7900 features a SEP of $3,999 USD. The AMD Radeon PRO W7800 features a SEP of $2,499 USD. The AMD Radeon PRO W7000 Series workstation graphics cards are expected to be available from leading etailers/retailers starting in Q2, 2023. Product availability in OEM and SI systems is expected in 2H 2023.
