AMD has dropped the pricing bar of its Ryzen 7000X3D series CPUs (specifically the 7950X3D and 7900X3D models) ahead of the Ryzen 9000X3D launch. Ryzen 7000X3D series processors are set to turn a full-year-old in the first half of 2023.
These gaming favorites are hitting it big with gamers, ranking the Ryzen 7 7800X3D among the top-selling gaming chips of all X3D options ahead of even all current CPU selections. Its success is so huge that it even eclipses the entirety of Intel’s 13th and 14th Gen lineup, making it one of the primary draws for AM4 owners looking at a potential AM5 socket upgrade.
AMD to Launch Ryzen 9000X3D Soon and Price Cuts on Ryzen 7000X3D
In addition, AMD’s most recent pledge regarding future AM5 platform support through at least 2027 is another reason AM4 owners will either decide to hold onto their platform or trade up to the new platform supporting future Zen 5-powered Ryzen 9000 CPUs.
But that’s about to change. With AMD’s Ryzen 9000X3D series of next-gen 3D V-Cache chips just around the corner in 2023. We expect these chips to offer major improvements and added features. While there is no way to verify, the initial report hints at a release window for the X3D Zen 5 lineup sometime after late Q3 2021 or early Q4 2021, in line with what Club386 said would be the case.
According to insider information, AMD is expected to introduce its Ryzen 9000X3D “3D V-cache” CPUs in late Q3, around September, following the launch of non-X3D SKUs by two months. It’s unclear whether this represents a retail launch or just an announcement, but AM5 builders won’t have long to wait to get their hands on the newest 3D V-Cache parts.
Retailers and partners have already started lowering prices on remaining Ryzen 7000X3D CPUs in preparation for these new developments. Such as, the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D is now retailing at just $499 US, a 28.6% drop from the MSRP. Elsewhere, the Ryzen 9 7900X3D has seen its price slashed exactly in half to $329 US, a -45% drop versus MSRP. This includes the Ryzen 7 7800X3D which launched at $449 US but can now be found at around the $300 US mark for a -41% from the launch MSRP.
These significant discounts on current Ryzen 7000X3D 3D V-Cache CPUs pave the way for the imminent Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs Weak point performance, at least from the benchmarks shared by AMD, and the Ryzen 6800HS accelerates up to 23 % games compared to the Intel Core i9-14900K.
For the 3D V-Cache variants, which are anticipated to provide an extra 15-20% or even more boost, AMD’s Ryzen 9000X3D will be a solid competing item to Intel’s Arrow Lake CPUs that are established for the October release. Intel will of course need to compete with both Ryzen 9000 CPUs as well as Ryzen 9000X3D chips, the former of which is likely to be available before any recent Intel 800 series motherboard ships with Intel’s new LGA 1851 socketed platform.
