AMD introduces its Athlon Gold Pro 4150GE ‘Renoir’ APU series to take on the affordable Low-End Segment

AMD has mostly abandoned the affordable CPU category, but with the introduction of its yet-to-be-announced Athlon Gold Pro 4150GE ‘Renoir’ APUs, that may change shortly. A new benchmark result has surfaced, indicating that the 4150GE’s official debut is on the horizon.

AMD’s Pro models are often aimed at entry-level business and enterprise PCs, but the company also offers non-Pro models for the retail market. As a result, the corporation could soon return to the lower end of the market (under $200), which it has largely ignored in recent product lineups.

AMD didn’t try to address the lower end of the market with its codenamed Renoir and Cezanne APUs based on its Zen 2 and Zen 3 microarchitectures, which were released in 2020 and 2021, respectively. Because the firm was (and still is) in a strong competitive position, it prioritized the production of higher-end Ryzen-branded machines to boost earnings and profitability. However, as the desktop market becomes more competitive, the business appears to be preparing to debut its Athlon Gold-badged Renoir devices.

The first CPU-Z benchmark for AMD’s forthcoming Athlon Gold Pro 4150GE processor has been discovered by @Tum Apisak. The Renoir-based processor has four cores that run at up to 3800 MHz, a 4MB L3 cache, and a built-in Radeon Vega GPU with 320 stream processors. The part gets 460 single-thread points and 1785 multi-thread points in the CPU-Z benchmark, which puts it on par with Intel’s Core i3-10100F and i3-9100F processors.

AM4 motherboards will be able to use the chip (assuming it has the right BIOS). Meanwhile, the Athlon Gold Pro 4150GE, like all AMD Pro APUs and CPUs, will support all of AMD’s enterprise-grade security, dependability, and manageability features, meaning the part will be more expensive than ordinary chips.

The entry in CPU-Z isn’t the only sign that the Athlon Gold Pro 4150GE is on the way. @ExecuFix, a frequent leaker, posted a photograph of the processor a few weeks ago, showing that the chips are certainly floating around among PC makers and/or distributors.
