Intel is facing significant challenges in the competitive CPU market, and the latest data reflects this struggle. The Core Ultra 200S “Arrow Lake” processors have not met expectations, and many of Intel’s recent offerings are manufactured using TSMC’s N3B (3nm) process node.
The anticipated 20A technology remains elusive, and the Arc discrete GPU family has yet to make a meaningful impact. As a result, Intel’s stock price has plummeted by nearly 50% over the past year, and CEO Pat Gelsinger recently announced his retirement, raising questions about the company’s future direction.

AMD Gains Ground in the CPU Market
The latest Steam Hardware Survey reveals a significant shift in the CPU landscape. Intel’s market share among Windows PC users has dropped to 63%, allowing AMD to close in on the 40% mark. By the end of November, AMD captured 36.68% of Steam’s Windows users and an impressive 69.85% of Linux users. This marks a notable gain of 1.94% in market share for AMD in November, reaching its highest level in recent history.
AMD’s rise is a testament to its growing popularity among gamers and content creators, who are increasingly turning to Team Red for their processing needs. With competitive pricing and strong performance, AMD is positioning itself as a formidable alternative to Intel.
NVIDIA RTX 4060 Laptop GPU Dominates the Charts
In the GPU segment, NVIDIA continues to maintain a dominant position, with its most popular models being the GeForce RTX 3060 and RTX 4060 Laptop GPUs. These models are followed closely by the RTX 3050, RTX 4070 Laptop GPU, and the RTX 4070 Super. On the AMD side, the Radeon RX 6750 GRE 10 GB and RX 7700 XT have emerged as the most popular graphics cards among Steam users in November.
Notably, the GeForce RTX 3060 remains the top GPU in terms of market share, but the RTX 4060 Laptop GPU has made headlines by surpassing its desktop counterpart. It is now the second most common SKU on Steam, with a market share increase of nearly 70% compared to its predecessor (5.5% vs. 3.28%). Despite some criticism regarding its performance and 8 GB VRAM buffer, the RTX 4060 Laptop GPU has proven to be immensely successful, appealing to gamers looking for portable yet powerful options.
