AMD could revamp Navi 2X GPUs with 6nm for Radeon RX 7600/RX 7500 series cards

AMD will launch its next-gen RDNA3 based GPUs next year and a new rumour suggests that it will not totally shred its highly appraise RDNA2 graphics for next-gen. Considering the chip shortage and AMD’s past of refreshing its own hardware, the rumour from Greymon55 seems believable.

As per this rumour, AMD could refresh its Navi 2X GPUs with a 6nm node and effectively fill the void in the mid-range to an entry-level segment of the next-gen Radeon RX 7000 series. This seems believable especially since the Navi 22 and Navi 23 GPUs are great for lower-range cards and could be used next-gen as well.

So, it could happen that the Radeon RX 7600 series will sport the power as the current RX 6700 XT and lower and we might see an entry-level RX 7500 series GPUs in action as well. However, logically it makes no sense to refresh the Navi 21 GPU, which feature just as many cores as Navi 33, i.e. 5120.

AMD Navi 22, on the other hand, features up to 2560 Stream Processors that could feature in the lower RX 7600 or RX 7500 series GPUs. The point to be noted is that the same leaker previously also claimed that the Navi 4X GPU series is based on RDNA4 microarchitecture and so might offer more GPU SKUs than the Navi 3X series.

Though as Videocardz points out this moment only three Navi 3X GPUs are expected: 31, 32, and 33, however, as AMD could be TSMC’s second-biggest client by next year making more GPUs with some refreshed old ones could help AMD provide a broader lineup.

Obviously, although we have received a lot of rumours about Ryzen 7000 processors based on Zen 4, and even for Zen 5 as well, on the GPU front there has not been a lot of rumours about Navi 4X GPUs, supposedly based on RDNA4 architecture. However, Navi 3X GPUs are promising as RDNA3 is rumoured to give a huge leap in performance as it brings MCM-based GPUs.
