Finally, the Amazon Prime Video app is available on Microsoft Store while still using the web version does feel comfortable but an app has its own advantage. So, with the app you can watch your favourite movies and TV shows on your desktop PCs, laptops as well as tablets running on Windows.
One good thing about the app is that it lets you download anything on your Windows device so that you can view it offline at your convenience much like what we experience on Android and iOS. This feature is already available on Amazon Music app on Windows but finally it features on Prime Video app, better late than never.
Obviously, there aren’t any changes to the viewing experience like we are used to when we are watching on the website, although there are some UI changes for navigation. The Prime Video app can only be downloaded if your device runs on Windows 10 and also you need to have a Prime Video subscription that costs Rs. 129 per month in India and the yearly subscription costs Rs. 999.
While Amazon says that the app lets you stream and download videos up to 1080p, a test run by The Verge, however, reveals that the app was not able to stream higher than 720p resolution on Windows 10, which is actually strange. Like Android or iOS, there is three video quality for downloads i.e. Good, Better and Best. Also, some titles are listed to have 4K UHD streaming options as well.
Recently, Amazon Prime Video announced a new Watch Party feature, which allows subscribers to watch TV shows and movies with friends and family remotely. Accommodating up to 100 users in one group, the Watch Party feature will also have a built-in chat section where members of the group can have live conversations, complete with emojis. However, this feature is only rolled out for users in the US as of now.
Go download the Amazon Prime Video app from Microsoft Store and share your experience in the comments down below.
