Amazon Prime signs a deal to Livestream WNBA for India, will begin live streaming games from August 21

Amazon Prime Video India has acquired the rights of WNBA for the country of India. As a result, this will be the second live streaming deal secured by Amazon after gaining the rights to telecast the cricket games of New Zealand.

WNBA and Amazon made an announcement about their deal to the public on their official websites. Therefore prime members will be able to live stream the matches of the 25th season of WNBA from August 21, 2021.

According to this deal between Amazon Prime and WNBA, the live streaming platform will have exclusive live streaming rights to 6 WNBA games in India.

Chairanya Divan who is the spokesperson of Amazon Prime Video India shared his thoughts after this announcement. “We are happy to bring the WNBA games to our viewers. We are confident that the world class, friction free live experience of the WNBA games on Amazon Prime Video will delight the growing base of basketball fans in India.”

Moving forward, this deal marks the first time that Amazon Prime Video has global streaming rights to a women’s professional sports league.

As mentioned above Indian users who have prime membership of Amazon will be able to watch six WNBA games on Amazon Prime Video. As a result, let’s take a look at the fixtures and the timing of the games.

  • Saturday, August 21 – Seattle @ New York, 4:30 a.m. IST
  • Friday, August 27 – Dallas @ Washington, 4:30 a.m. IST
  • Wednesday, September 1 – New York @ Minnesota, 8 p.m. IST
  • Friday, September 3 – New York @ Seattle, 10 p.m. IST
  • Wednesday, September 8 – Connecticut @ Dallas, 8 p.m. IST
  • Friday, September 17 – Los Angeles @ Atlanta, 7 p.m. IST

Therefore this is great news for Indian fans who were striving to watch some basketball action. Moreover, this move could lead more women to follow their passion for basketball. Consequently, Amazon Prime Video will gain rights for streaming more games in India as time passes. Hence Amazon Prime Video is make steadfast growth by acquiring deals of WNBA.
