Real Madrid are [planning for the future](https://technosports.co.in/?p=389390&preview=true), and are eyeing a replacement for Ferland Mendy at left-back. Alphonso Davies of Bayern Munich is the player that they want to replace the Frenchman in a couple of years.

Right now, however, a deal for him will cost a lot of money and it will also be very difficult for them to convince Bayern Munich to sell him. But, his [deal with the German giants](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1608018163022675970?s=20&t=vqq7I102yqsCaKp1n07s8w) runs out in 2025, and the operation that Madrid are planning is expected to start in the summer of 2024.

No Canadian has ever played for the 14-time Champions League winners, and Alphonso Davies would be the first Canadian to do so if he arrives.

The plan for Los Blancos is to sign a young player to replace Mendy at left-back for not a lot of money. Should Davies not renew with Bayern any further, a good deal should be negotiable in the summer of 2024 when he will have only one year remaining on his deal. Moreover, he will only still be 23 in a year and a half.

As a result, he could continue playing for Real Madrid for a decade if he wishes, meaning he will be a long-term player. The likes of Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo, Endrick, Fede Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni are all expected to be a part of the next generation of Los Blancos. And if he is signed, Davies could be another world class player to be included in the same fearsome line-up.
