If *Bluey* made you cry over a kids’ cartoon, brace yourself. The Brisbane studio behind it is bringing a heartfelt live-action movie to Netflix, and it’s built for the whole family to watch together.

## What Is Allen About?

*Allen* is set in a sunny Queensland coastal town. Petey lost his best friend, Allen, as a child, and **20 years later Allen is back**. Expect a mix of comedy, drama and adventure about friendship, loss and growing up.

Co-director Daley Pearson says the film is about “love, family and all those big and small moments from childhood.” He grew up in the region, so the story is personal.

## Why This One Matters?

It’s Ludo Studio’s first live-action feature, which makes it a big leap for a studio best known for animation. Netflix’s Minyoung Kim praised the team’s “relatability and wit,” and *Allen* joins a growing run of Australian Netflix originals like *Apple Cider Vinegar* and *Boy Swallows Universe*.

## Release Date: What to Expect

Netflix has teased *Allen* as part of its upcoming slate, with a **November 2026 premiere**. Reports say the specific day hasn’t been announced yet, so check Netflix for the official date.

## Is It Just for Kids?

Not really. Like *Bluey*, the film seems designed to land with parents as much as children, with a nostalgic hook about reuniting with a childhood friend. Keep tissues nearby.
