All India Radio was disappointed after they failed to convince BCCI to grant them the radio rights of IPL after trying for 6 months. But this time they clinch the rights.

AIR has bagged the rights of telecasting live commentary of the upcoming series against Australia. AIR will broadcast the commentary in all ten matches of India against Australia.

All India Radio CEO Shashi Shekhar Vempati said, “Yes, we have got radio rights for the series and AIR will be broadcasting all the matches. DD will show the white ball games.”

AIR already started the advertisement. The living legend of Bollywood Mr. Amitabh Bachchan is the main face of the advertisement.

In 35 seconds clip he said, “Deviyo aur Sajno, jab apne Men in Blue maidaan mei utrenge aur voh bhi apne sabse tagde rivals Australia ke saamne, aur voh bhi 9 mahino ke baad toh bhaiya time toh aa hi gya hai cricket ka asli rang dikhane ka. India vs Australia arha hai. Mai toh subah 8 bje dekhunga Sony ke sports channel par aur aap? Dekhiyega zarur. Dhanyavaad.”

Last year BCCI and AIR had entered an agreement that gives AIR every right to air every international and domestic match played in the country. The contract was signed for 2 years. For this agreement, cricket commentary was back on the radio after 5 years. Now they have clinched the radio rights of India’s foreign tour as well.
