### Why This Project Matters to Alia and Shaheen

In a joint statement, the sisters shared how personal this project has been to them, noting that it “captures something so honest about being young” — the friendships that shape you, the first loves that change you, and the heartbreaks that quietly stay with you long after.

That emotional honesty is what sets “Don’t Be Shy” apart from typical [coming-of-age film](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coming-of-age_story) fare — it isn’t just about romance, but about the slow, often awkward process of self-discovery.
