Alexis Sanchez joined Manchester United from Arsenal in January 2018. He was given the status of the highest earner at United with a wage of more than £500,000-a-week.

Former Barcelona player Sanchez was a livewire in the Arsenal team. He was named Arsenal’s Player of the Season twice during his four-year stay with the club, including his PFA Team of the Year inclusion in 2014/15.

But his spell at United had been a nightmare. He scored just five goals in 45 appearances.

Sanchez has now revealed on Instagram that he was not happy at Old Trafford from Day One itself and wanted a Arsenal return.

He said: “I got the opportunity to join United and it seemed tempting. It was something nice, because when I was a kid I liked that club a lot.”

“But I ended up signing without much information about the move. The first days that I was with my colleagues, you only understand things once you arrive.”

“The first training session I realised many things. I got home and told my representative: ‘Can’t the contract be terminated to return to Arsenal?’”

“They started laughing but I told them that something did not sit right with me. It had already been signed.”

Sanchez was sent out on loan to Inter in the last season and he has now secured a permanent transfer to the Serie A side in this summer window.
