Alexandre Lacazette has seemingly agreed to move back to Lyon as a free agent this summer. He hasn’t renewed his deal with Arsenal, and will be walking out for nothing. The Frenchman is in close contact with his former club, and could finalise a move back very soon.
The striker joined Arsenal in 2017 in a £46.5 million move. But, he hasn’t quite matched the expectations that the fans had for him when he arrived. He had a mixed run in red and white after failing to nail down a starting spot in the line-up over the course of the last five years.
Alexandre Lacazette in talks to return to Lyon
“He’s a player who interests us for all that he has represented here.
“We noticed his maturity and he is someone that the club have stayed in contact with.”
“We will make every possible effort,” said Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas in February. And it now seems that they are pushing to sign their former player once again.
During his time with the North London side, Alexandre Lacazette scored 71 goals in 206 appearances. He also won the FA Cup with them a couple years ago, and his contributions were vital in securing the victory.
Arsenal are in talks with Manchester City over the signing of Gabriel Jesus as the replacement for the Frenchman. Nothing has been agreed as of yet, and they are exploring several other players at the moment too.
