Sevilla are set to sign Alex Telles from Manchester United on a loan deal until 2023. The two clubs have been in negotiations over the last few days, and have reached a breakthrough at last.

The deal is a straight loan with no option to buy at the end of the deal. This means that the Brazilian will return to Old Trafford next summer. After Anthony Martial, he becomes the second player to join Sevilla on loan.

Alex Telles joins Sevilla on loan deal

The left-back joined Manchester United from Porto under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for a fee worth €15 million. He was signed to provide competition for Luke Shaw, who had fallen out of favour. And since then, the two have traded spots on the left side of defense.

Alex Telles will have one year of contract remaining when he comes back from loan at Sevilla. So, he might have to be sold next summer, when he returns to Manchester United, unless the option to extend for another year is triggered.

United have signed Tyrell Malacia to provide competition for the left-back position, which means that Tells wouldn’t be getting a lot of playing time. And that would hinder his chances of making the Brazilian national team ahead of the 2022 World Cup.

Erik Ten Hag’s side are also listening to offers for Eric Bailly and Phil Jones, whom they plan to offload this summer.
