Alex Matos has completed his transfer to Chelsea as a free agent from Norwich City. The youngster will train and play with the U-21 squad under Jim Fraser, who was pushing to sign the teenager from the Canaries.
Fraser is in charge of Chelsea’s youth development and recruitment, having been promoted in February. It is safe to say that he has been busy, considering the number of academy transfers that the club has been conducting since Todd Boehly’s arrival.
Who is Alex Matos? Norwich youth forward signs for Chelsea
“I’m a forward who can play anywhere in the front line,” Matos said last year. “My pace is probably my best attribute, getting into the box and creating chances, it’s a big part of my game.”
The attacker has been called up to England’s U-15 and represented Norwich at U-18 while still being at schoolboy levels.
Chelsea have completed the documents and formalities required to sign the player. And an official announcement is pending, which will confirm the switch once and for all. Alex Matos is the 17th new player that the club have invested in this season, in a huge influx of players under the new ownership.
Only days ago, the transfer for Ecuadorian youngster Kendry Paez was wrapped up. He will be making the move to London in 2025, but Chelsea have already swooped in for the midfielder ahead of other interested clubs as they look to build a strong long-term project.
