Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has been struck with an eight-match ban for pushing the referee, Chris Kavanagh, during their match against Manchester United. The forward was immediately sent off for putting his hands on the referee, and has now been punished by the FA.

The incident took place in Fulham’s FA Cup defeat against United, which saw the manager, Marco Silva, also sent off during the same incident. He has also been given a ban and a fine by the FA after an investigation into the matter.

After his teammate, Willian, was sent off, Mitrovic completely lost his cool and reacted very aggressively. He shoved the referee, and was initially given a three-match ban. But that has been deemed insufficient, and has now been extended to eight games.

Aleksandar Mitrovic will also pay a fine worth ยฃ75,000. He has already served a suspension of one match, and will not be available for seven more.

Silva, on the other hand, will be banned from the touchline for two games. He will pay a ยฃ20,000 fine for the incident that took place on the match and a separate ยฃ20,000 for his comments after the game.

Moreover, Fulham will also have to pay a ยฃ40,000 fine for failing to control the players and their behaviour surrounding the referee.
