In a shocking turn of events, Gabri Veiga has chosen to sign for Al Ahli after his move to Napoli fell through. The Saudi Arabian club had the youngster as their top target for the summer, and have secured his transfer after negotiations with Celta Vigo.
They will not be paying his €40 million release clause, but will be using a different structure to get the deal over the line. The player has agreed a multi-year contract with the club and becomes the latest to make the move to the Gulf State this summer.

Medical tests for the midfielder are scheduled soon, and he is expected to be revealed as a new signing once all the formalities have been completed. The transfer has also been confirmed by Celta Vigo manager Rafa Benitez – “Al Ahli deal will change Gabri Veiga’s life in a positive way. It hurts but will also help our club financially”.
“Going to Saudi at 20? It’s not just a place for old players. I had Carrasco in China, then he returned and he’s playing UCL”.
Young players like Jota and Veiga have made the move to Saudi Arabia this summer. But, players at the peak of their abilities like Fabinho, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Ruben Neves, Franck Kessie and Aymeric Laporte have also signed for PIF-funded clubs this summer.
If the Spaniard can perform well in the coming years, he could easily find his way back into European football.
