Akash Mishra is set to join Machida Zelvia in the second tier of Japanese football, leaving Hyderabad FC. The club is managed by former Pune City coach Ranko Popovic, who is keen on landing the 20-year-old.

They are willing to pay the transfer fee and have agreed personal terms over a move as well. As a result, it could be only a matter of time before the transfer is made official for the youngster.

There are rumours that the move could be a permanent one instead of a temporary loan deal. Only a month ago, Hyderabad FC announced the contract extension of the player until the end of the 2024/25 season. But the unpredictability of the transfer market is once again on display with a move to Japan seemingly imminent.

The youngster was very important for Hyderabad’s ISL Cup win this past season. He was named the Young Player of the Year at the Football Players Association of India awards very recently. Hence, he is one of the most exciting prospects for Indian football, and has become a starter for the national team as well.

With exposure to a new league in a foreign country, Akash Mishra could undergo massive development. And with his best years ahead of him, he can become a pioneer of the next generation of Indian footballers.
