Ajax have submitted a bid for Steven Bergwijn of Tottenham Hotspur. The final price for the forward has not been agreed yet, but the negotiations are continuing between the two clubs.
Antonio Conte is prepared to let the player leave in the January transfer window, and he will be backed by chairman Daniel Levy. While the interest is strong, Ajax will have to come to an agreement with Spurs if they want to sign the player this month.
Steven Bergwijn close to returning home?
The Dutch winger was signed from PSV Eindhoven two years ago, for a fee worth €30 million. Since joining the London club, Steven Bergwijn has made 64 appearances for them across all competitions. He has only scored 5 goals and provided 10 assists during his time with them.
Bergwijn has a contract with Spurs until 2025, but will be leaving this transfer window, in all likelihood. His form has been very inconsistent since moving to England, and he has been in and out of the starting line-up as a result.
The 24-year-old is valued at €18 million on Transfermarkt, and it is very likely that Tottenham Hotspur will only accept a fee around that region.
Tanguy Ndombele and Dele Alli are among the other players rumoured to leave Tottenham this month. Bergwijn is one of the main targets for Ajax, and an agreement between the two clubs will see him return to his former academy club by the end of the month.
