Erik Ten Hag has terminated his contract with Ajax six weeks before it was meant to expire to get a head start on his next project at Manchester United. But, it is yet unclear when the Dutchman will be arriving in Manchester to start working first hand.
Ahead of his transfer to England, there have been several questions about players potentially following him to Old Trafford. Jurrien Timber and Antony have been two of the names linked with a switch to United, following in the footsteps of Erik Ten Hag.
Some Ajax players could follow Erik Ten Hag to Manchester United
Jurrien Timber is a 5ft 10 centre-back, and while he doesn’t have the best physical traits, he is an extremely versatile defensive player. He has attracted interest from Bayern Munich over a transfer in the summer as well. But, he could choose to play under Ten Hag at Manchester United instead, if given the opportunity.
The case of Brazilian winger Antony is much more complicated, because Erik Ten Hag has rightly stated that there is nobody in the squad to replace the skillful winger. The 22-year-old has a contract with Ajax until 2025, and won’t be a cheap transfer for the Premier League club.
He has scored 12 goals and provided 10 assists in 33 games across all competitions this season, and is widely known for his impressive footwork too. While United are surely heading in for a rebuild this season, it remains to be seen which players are recruited as part of the new chapter of the team.
