Aitana Bonmati is set to to become the highest paid player in women’s football with her new contract with Barcelona. The reigning Ballon d’or winner has renewed her contract with the club till 2028, and has also received a well-deserved pay raise.

She now earns a wage in the region of €600,000, in line with some of the best players across the world. Bonmati has taken centre stage in the world of women’s football since the serious injury to teammate Alexia Putellas. And now, she has been rewarded for it.

The 26-year-old’s previous deal was set to run out in 2025, but her stay was never in doubt. A graduate of the club’s academy, she has grown into one of the most valuable stars the club has.

As a result, she always seemed set to stay at Barca for the future. And now, the club has tied her down to three more years with them.

Bonmati is close to achieving the 100-goal mark for the club, as she has currently scored 96 goals in 275 appearances for Barcelona Femeni across all competitions. She has also won multiple Women’s Champions League titles and domestic titles, and also won the FIFA Women’s World Cup with Spain.
