The Indian Supreme Court has approved the drafting of a constitution for the All India Football Federation (AIFF). The final draft will be approved by next Thursday, 28th July. Moreover, there shall be a democratically elected body that will be in charge of Indian football.
India is set to host the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, but there were concerns that the location could be shifted. The main reason behind this was the absence of an elected committee by mid-September.

There are chances of a tier-based league system developing in India based on the new constitution. This would include a promotion and relegation system, with the different tiers interchanging teams like in European domestic leagues.
The state associations present in the hearing pointed out that the CoA cannot go beyond the National Sports Code. All parties have been asked to identify the key matters that need to be addressed within the next week.
As reported by Marcus Mergulhao, the bench has asked the different stakeholders to prepare a brief note of their submissions and submit it by July 25. The Committee of Administrators has received around 250 comments from those objecting. Around 98% of those objections have been accepted, and the committee is working to ensure that all of FIFA’s concerns are taken care of.
The Football Sports Development Limited (FDSL) which looks after the ISL, has asked some clauses in the drafted constitution to be amended. The AIFF elections must be concluded by around September 15, with important weeks ahead to retain the U-17 World Cup hosting rights.
