Concerns about the future of work have been raised by AI. The CEO and Managing Director of Tech Mahindra, CP Gurnani, disagrees and asserts that rather than eliminating jobs, AI has actually generated new ones. He recently discussed the future of jobs in the industry and the impact of generative AI during a Q&A session. When asked at MWC 2023 in Barcelona about the effect of generative AI on employment prospects in the next months, Gurnani responded as follows to Tech Today’s Aayush Ailawadi: “I’m overjoyed about generative AI. It didn’t seem to me to eliminate jobs. It produced jobs. Everything is powered by technology.” He continued by saying that as the use cases for generative AI are still being developed, it might eventually lead to the creation of new job possibilities.

Gurnani thinks there hasn’t been a tech winter despite the recent layoffs in the sector. He said: “The possibilities are just beginning. The US has always been that capitalist society where the tap may be turned on and off.” He also emphasized how well-known tech giants such as Google, Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, and Google continue to post gains in their financial performance. They are simply reordering their priorities if they don’t need as many people as before.
Gurnani stressed the value of technology and how it affects the generation of jobs. He claimed that AI has actually increased employment. The possibilities that technology is going to provide in the upcoming years are reflected in his confidence about the future of the tech industry. It’s noteworthy that neither Tech Mahindra nor Infosys has said if they use generative AI in their everyday business. Murthy asserted that he used ChatGPT during the NASSCOM Technology and Leadership Conference 2023. However, according to TCS HR Lakkad, the company only employs “such inputs in limited areas” and a sizable amount of work will be finished over the next two years.
