Boxing could be set for a much needed overhaul with the implementation of AI in the scoring system. The method of judgement and points allocation in the game has long been criticised for its lack of transparency and subjectivity.
But with the implementation of AI to help judges, things could take a turn for the better. Trials are still ongoing for the technology to be introduced into the sport, but the World Boxing president is confident that things could change soon.

WB president Boris van der Vorst, speaking at the 44th Olympic Council of Asia General Assembly, said:
“We are exploring modern technology like AI to make judging more objective. There are promising projects underway to address the trust deficit in the system.”
While knockouts can determine a clear winner in matches, the subjectivity involved due to scoring by multiple judges often makes the decision controversial. Perhaps with video reviews, and the implementation of AI as a separate scorer, a greater degree of neutrality can be achieved to determine bouts where there is no knockout involved.
